Written Upon the Wall

On a drizzling June morn, a few weeks before they brought that sixth blessing home, she inked it upon the wall.  Scrolled it out right there above where he would sleep.  Where they had all slept.  Well, at least the last four. Photo credit: Google And everyday when she would lay him to sleep or reach to awaken him she would see it and be reminded. Reminded that each one has been a special gift that is meant to be cherished and to cherish meant to keep focused on what really matters. Even when things don't turn out as expected.  Even when the darkness comes. After she miscarried baby Hope and he left their room at nineteen months of age she almost erased it...fearing no more babes would fill that cradle or her womb but God had other plans.  Five months later she was expecting Michaela.  But the pregnancy was complicated from the start and until that little girl screamed her first breath they didn't know if she would sleep in the cradle unde...

Do You Love Well

I scratched it out right there upon the slate - words to live by.  But somewhere between then and nightfall I had failed every word that was written. When your wound a bit tight, have a mess of kids, and plenty of furry creatures...it can be a recipe for disaster even on a good day. BUT... When the toilet is clogged...again. The coffee maker is broken. She's crying over math lessons. They're bickering over whose turn it is to sweep the floor. Kai is screaming as he watches the dog eat his favorite car. That sweet little bundle of ours is spewing from every open cavity. Dishes and laundry are piled high. Chickens have grazed the garden. The dog's footprints dust the hardwoods...10 seconds after I've scrubbed them. Oh, yeah, dinner.  Kinda forgot about that one - soup anyone? By evening I'm spent. Of course, this means nothing to the toddler who has a complete and utter meltdown as I'm trying to take off his clothes and put on his pajamas.  He w...

It's Almost Here!!!

WooHoo!!!  I can't believe Easter is in a few days.  Time flies when you're having fun!  We've been plenty busy 'round here getting things ready for our special celebration.  Easter is not about bunnies, dyeing eggs or baskets overflowing with candy.  It's about the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Christ!  However, I do find it fascinating that Spring is the time in which we celebrate His gift to us.  Even though Autumn is my favorite season...Spring is captivating.  Everything radiates with newness of life.  Days are filled with gusty winds...cute critters as they wake from their winter slumber...baby ducklings scurrying about...gorgeous trees in bloom...warm sunshine... peaceful April showers and of course tulips...my favorite!  It's such a refreshing time.  Filled with wonder, life and hope.   In our home Easter decor includes all things Spri...

O Christmas Tree...O Christmas Tree Part II

Welcome back!   I hope y'all are having a blast preparing for Christmas.  It can be hard work to get everything done.  Exhausting in fact.  I'm sure you've earned some relaxation time.  So, grab something warm to drink, prop up your feet for a moment and enjoy some time for yourself.  I hope you'll be inspired by what I've done and be challenged to unleash your imagination too. Jessie's Christmas Tour Part II Guests are greeted by an antique sled adorned with boughs and an adorable coat that my sons wore as toddlers. In years past, I've decorated in an elegant fashion.  I love the grandeur and opulence.  However, this year I decided to go with a more down home natural look and I absolutely love it! A simple way to display Christmas cards.   My mother gave me this nativity a few years ago.  It was handed down from my great aunt.   I miss her SO much.  Pulling this out each year makes me fe...

Jessie's Autumn Tour

WooHoo!   Autumn is absolutely my favorite season. I just love the brilliant colors that drip from each piece of God's handiwork.  I've been busier than a bee cozyin' up my nest for the winter months ahead. Come take a peak at some of the things I've done. Don't forget to leave me a comment... I would love to be inspired and hear what creative ideas you've come up with.      Behind this table was a picture that didn't quiet go with my fall decor so I wrapped it with burlap.  Tied the corners with raffia and strung berries along the top and down one side.   My daughter and I made these pillows out of burlap.  Simple and inexpensive.  A great way to spruce up a room for the seasons. By adding a few berries and picks above your cabinetry, fall will visit your kitchen within minutes. Even the powder room gets a dusting of Autumn.  With homemade pumpkin spice soap displayed on a beautiful leaf ...
